Calling the Guild “evil” is kind of a stretch; only that ridiculous “destroy the city” plan counts, and honestly that wasn’t helping anything (like what was their strategist thinking?). Sure, they were mercenary, and Fitzgerald is a killer, but he highly values his subordinates and will personally protect them.
The lesson here is simple: when someone is trying to bring a loved one back from the dead, they are clearly desperate enough to do anything.
