Summary

A brief description of the manga Bungou Stray Dogs:

Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers, and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They’re tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi’s future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives!

Amazing manga, excellent anime! The artwork portrays the story in a very compelling way. Really deep characters, crazy plot, THE PLOT TWISTS OH MY GOD.

All of the characters and their abilities in Bungo Stray Dogs are based off of famous real-life authors and their books. BSD doesn’t fanservice and instead focuses solely on the story. BSD does include fantasy violence and injuries. The plot is really complex and very compelling. BSD pulls off many tropes and plot twists that are hard to achieve for most manga. The plot is so crazy but scarily realistic at the same time.

If you think that you would enjoy this manga, please support the author by buying the official manga. There are also several spin-off light novels and manga versions of those light novels. The anime does include scenes from the light novels and all of it is canon but not included in the main story. The spin-off mangas are great, I suggest reading them after you’ve caught up with the main story. They often explain parts of the main story that are seen and mentioned but are not touched upon or explain. Personally, after rereading BSD with the added context made so much more sense. I noticed many small details and little things that made me almost tear up…

Rating: Absolutely mind-blowing and heartwrenching manga. 11/10 would absolutely recommend!

Im gonna die if dazai dies purchase the official volumes to support the author! the last chapter they uploaded was in 2022 so I doubt they will continue to upload again such a good manga and it also has an anime as well as a game altho its so sad in the last chapters… Dazai just didnt even hesitate.. ;(

I’m a hardcore fan of this series (manga and anime…and the game’s nice, too), and I was surprised to see this here. Just so you know, Kindle versions are further along than this. It’s good enough that I strongly advise y’all to drop real money on this series if you can, support the author, so she (he?) can keep making this awesome manga.

A quick review: great concept (real-life authors reimagined to have super powers based on their actual written works), deep characters, and some twists and turns I was not expecting (I read/write a lot, so I’m a bit jaded regarding plot predictability). I actually looked up some of the Japanese authors (I was familiar w/ most of the American & English ones), and I’m currently enjoying Rashoumon by Akutagawa Ryuunosuke. Already read some Nakajima; Chuuya & Dazai are next on the list. I can’t recommend it enough, and again, if you love it, show the author/artist some love! :likee: :cuteanime: :niga_kiss:
