Well this at least made more sense than wasting a top-level hitman as a suicide bomber, but honestly, she could’ve easily died anyway with such a stupid set-up.
And we get to see some of why Akutagawa has no self-esteem and treats himself and everyone else as expendable tools. I remember from the anime that Dazai seriously broke him mentally (and physically), re-making him into his obedient dog. Dazai was always the greater monster, he’s just very charismatic when he wants to be.
