This doesn’t make any sense.
Why wouldn’t he just tell the truth, there is no dismerit in it for him.
The evidence points to the real killer anyway, at least before he picked up the knife. MC should have had the killers blood on him and the killer had girl’s, MC’s and the leader’s blood on him.
Oh and that knife would obviously be found pretty quick in a controlled clean environment like that city.
He doesn’t have to let anyone know about his power since it seems it would scare people.

I’m curious as to what would have happened if he actually said what happened instead of saying a half truth. He acted in self defence after waking to the sound of an angry teammate that had decided to kill their team. Through the help of a Magic flash bang and the element of surprise, he managed to luckily take out the attacker…
