Geez people stop looking so deep into the beggars sect.
Author wanted to slow burn power rise, MC is small but smart — they cannot start slaughtering or fighting stronger foes which will be too noisy and attention seeking for the entire story setup.
The best fodder + proper threat is the beggar sect –> they are mostly weak but they are everywhere making them a considerable but not an absolute threat.
Its a Murim story if MC belongs to one gang then almost everyone else will be the villain, 0 point in hating a gang since at this point them Korean authors went through all permutations of MCs already…you got Tang clan MC, Mt. Hua MC, Taoist MC ….
