What he’s talking about here is carbon (the burned rope, or bags) are added to the iron and with that it becomes steel. So it’s no longer iron, and a whole new metal, but with mithril does it need carbon too?
Rike is still the most useful and the least annoying character.

These authors get a really wrong idea about folding the metal. Japanese were forced to do it because their iron is really shit quality. But if you do this to high quality material, and I assume mythril is high quality, you actually make it weaker.
