Dungeon Odyssey - Chapter 151

I find it amazing how great all these side characters are developed and how they don’t just have their own stories on the side, but actively impact the general plot (with the rat seeking revenge helping the raid in great amounts, the necromancer helping the others during the war with his knowledge and the chief now probably/hopefully killing the monster rat any maybe some more enemies before dying)
It’s crazy because normally in like 99% of other stories I would dread so many chapters only focusing on side characters, but I don’t think I’ve ever disliked any ‘side story’ like that (even the super long flashback with the psycho with the main character syndrome)
Anyways, I really hope this doesn’t change and we continue to get these looks into the weaker monsters and side characters like this (or maybe also more mc interacting with these side characters, like how it was when he rescued the rats)

Also to anyone confused by the chief sudden switch of sides (wanting to kill everyone) I’d say it’s probably because he for one lost everything and doesn’t see himself surviving/doesn’t want to survive and instead of accepting that all this is partially his fault for indiscriminately killing the rebels, his egotistical ass just want’s to blame everyone else so he doesn’t have to life with the fact his actions actively drove his family to their death. After all most of the things he mentions are just straight up wrong, we know that the Nagers and mc care for the rats and would have tried to help if they could have, but they are at war and the rats aren’t the only ones dying, workers and warriors do so too. And he specifically should know that too since he saw mc risk his own life just to protect the three of them even if there was really no need. And yes the one with the sleeping mask was the one to let the kid go, but that doesn’t mean all the blame falls on him, not to mention him also blaming the junior rat with them as if he ever did anything out of line, which we all know for a fact he did not.
He’s desperate, was always pretty cruel and though it started out just wanting a better life for the rats, it has obviously developed into a weird complex and was just for his own family. He’s gone mad and is desperate, that’s why he won’t discriminate at who his anger is directed at, even if it’s stupid and selfish.
