I get it now, the dad has purposefully been cold to her all the time so the king doesn’t think she is his weakness. It’s a stupid strategy that led to his daughter being miserable and having a terrible life and in the end, it wasn’t even effective. So him and max should of just killed the king and put Max on the throne.
