So do the 2 kids with great sword and great shield party never age? Or are they Rhea? They even have the same clothes 5yrs prior to main storyline. Also in main storyline they are still learning and when GS is teaching how to use a sling they are there. So have they not learned anything in 5yrs?

Muh dude. It’s very simple.
Our main man, the Goblin Slayer, he’s the one who makes life better for the average person. Protects the weak and defenceless from the average threats of life others dismiss.
By contrast, the Hero, the girl we only see a handful of times, takes major risks to save the world and gets the glory for doing so. However, when it comes to making life better for the average person, these major acts of glory are… less important.
Picture this: you’re a farmer, a builder, or a shopkeeper in this world (let’s be honest here, most of us would be). If a horde of goblins is stealing from your village, or worse, raiding and pillaging it, your life is going to be brutish, nasty, and short, to paraphrase Thomas Hobbes. Having someone come by every now and again to kill the goblins nearby? To you they’ll be Big Damn Heroes as far as you’re concerned.
As with most important jobs however, to be successful repeatedly takes a large amount of skill. Lots of training. Factor in that Goblin slaying is equivalent in pay and glory to sewage workers, and the risk of being a cop in the ghetto? Few people are ready and willing to risk their lives for the pittance given, and disdain and contempt of those around you. Finding someone who will take on such a task not for the money, or to work their way up to bigger and better things, but for the sake of the job itself? Especially given that anyone could learn these skills and do this job but choose not to? That is a diamond in the rough. Goblin Slayer is that man.
Conversely, unless you’re living right beside or are otherwise directly impacted by the major threat, then your life is probably going to go on uninterrupted. Right up until the world falls down around your ears because hell has been unleashed on your world. Problems that are large enough to affect everyone, can be successfully handled by very few, take large amounts of skill, and cannot be allowed to fail without serious consequences? Times like this are when someone like the Hero is needed.
Even better, we see that without the grunt (GS), down in the muck, doing the miserable, inglorious jobs that need doing, we don’t get the shining stars who help change the world (Hero).
Finally, the whole point in the Hero being a girl in a story focused around a male protag, is to emphasize that you need both types of people to keep this world spinning. Having just one or the other creates nothing but misery, darkness, and ruin for everyone.
… Was trying to make a quick comment, then a block of text came out… whoops?…
