I did some thinking a while ago about intelligence before reading this. Intelligence is not related to age at all. A small child has a similar level of intelligence to a grown adult. The only difference is that the adult is educated and experienced. The usage of intelligence is used in way of how it is refined. For example, a Knight is great at close combat and battle planning of what is front of him. An Archer is great of being aware of his surroundings and calculating the distance. If they were to swap places, they will fail miserably. Teenagers gained at lot of awareness at once. They become quiet because they are either figuring out who they are or their mind & body is busy reconstructing and giving you a bad mood.
This manga scene just reminded of my theory and thought process. It is not perfect theory but is an interesting thought to think about.
