Golden Mage

After reading 40 chapters (missing 36 though), it was an interesting story line. Even though it is a good read, there is still a lot of problems with this manhwa and I mean a lot. To start with, it is a slow story pace so adding in chapters with heavy dialogue does not work well with this story or pace (although some can use this to their advantage but not this unfortunately). The artwork while in colour, can get rather confusing in some chapters and even has some very noticeable mistakes in it which was even repeated and copied in further chapters (like sword attacks blocked on the wrong side of the blade from opposing force in the swing art)! Then there is TL. While most of it is readable but with names, places and numbers constantly changing, does not help in any way for the story (especially when it is a slow paced story with few details as is). To further add injury to this story, the writer seems to have lost his way a few times and suddenly reading the beginning of the next chapter changes it. Adding in the fanatical religious dilemma, felt extremely heavy handed and unreasonable but did come back with a bit of suspense/intrigue at the end to change it up (although I can’t see how the writer is going to dig himself out of that one). I will book mark it to keep an eye on it as it does have a good storyline and would love to see how the story goes but even at 40 chapters for a manhwa, that’s a lot of negatives for a story and if it continues then it will become a major problem.

If the MC was a spice he’d be flour.
The story is bland and uninteresting.
The villains are just annoying noble types that exist to be hated and discarded.
The side characters all have the same face, barely any personality and only exist as harem props.

The only interesting character is the mother because she actually made choices and went through hardship. But MC flour saves the day with magic and friendship so it’s not like it matters.

The art is alright.

It get boring at certain points in the story
