if you intend to recruit him or at least have a positive relationship, I’d wager bringing an army to assault him family is not the best idea.
why not just recruit them as a subsidiary of the orthodox faction under the condition he becomes your disciple. That way his families livelihoods would be secured which for someone like mc will most likely leave a good impression.
