The issue is that the “bandit tournament” doesn’t feel to have a story purpose, the entire bandit storyline has overstayed its welcome. His family members, while kind, are acting as a cage for the MC, and they don’t really act as bandits either, so there simply doesn’t seem to be a purpose for them to stay as bandits.
They could’ve changed bandits into a small sect and have the MC act as a guardian of the sect, and all the bandit related storybeats could literally be changed into sects, orthodox and unorthodox sect territories, an upcoming Sect competition and the story would actually improve with this change, cause you can have a purpose woven into the setting. Traveling as bandits while not acting as bandits makes no sense.
For some reason, its kind of getting cringe lately, not only the MC being a puppy role for some reason. I hope he’s not going to be like that in the whole story
