I hate that the main character is so stupid with his own abilities. All he has to do is go up a thousand meters above the creature, make a portal that points straight down at the creature and “FIRE EVERYTHING!”
Gravity will do the rest. If a thousand meters isn’t high enough, I’m sure he has aircraft in his base that can go higher where he can create the necessary portal. Rods from God will definitely take care of an overgrown octopus.
