The sword is kinda dumb. 
You don’t blame the tool for harming others, but the one wielding it. Unless, the sword happens to be giga-narcissistic and believes himself to not be a tool (or was capable of moving by himself and could’ve avoided injuring the prince but chose not to).

The sword did check that worthless prince stat window. Something about lack in mana (can’t bother to check as the sword can’t remember what he checked before the stab incident)
