Yeah, I think you need to be more specific than ‘teenager’ here. 18 and 15 and 13 are three completely different situations.
That said, if she’s not yet 20 and he’s 30ish, that explains why he’s been so reluctant.

The fact they never even mention her age at all is sus af so they are clearly hinting she’s underage according to out world. Also the fact she has zero legal identification in any country on Earth would cause major issues when getting married ANYWHERE.
