Ugh.
This would be better if Saito said “yes, I do hate you” and then spent an hour listing all the things that are wrong with her. This would send Akane spiralling, but that’s something much needed for her true redemption; right now she’s getting an easy pass without needing to fix herself. Meh.

did you see after 42 chapter the goat the most experienced one blessed us with her presence and the story started moving. and how the freak did he not folded after that? she literally said she likes it. with these dumb character there’s no saving this series. just show grandma winning that would be more fun
After re-reading this chapter and recalling the beginning of the whole story it struck me how similar trajectories of Akane and her grandma are (so far). Grandma’s story is that she was unable to express her feelings and because of that she lost Saito’s grandpa to a more honest girl,
BUT
what if the real reason was that she was an insufferable hag much like Akane and Saito’s gramps was like “yeah, no thanks, don’t wanna be your fvckin’ therapist for the rest of my life” and went on to marry basically his version of Himari?
This is what Akane’s arc is missing: an experience of a permanent, heavy loss that hits her like a ton of bricks along with a realisation that she can’t blame anyone for it but herself. Saito snapping and moving out would be good, but seeing the current state of the series I doubt the story will go in this direction, which is a shame.
