The number one way you can tell good fiction from bad fiction is if the characters try to understand the fundamentals of the magic system and try to push it to its limits. The fact that MC is already experimenting with things from the new world already puts him ahead 99% of most other MCs in stories like these in my book. Incredibly based and intelligent MC
