Actually, the test was indeed wrong, but not for the reason others currently have stated. The formulation could work IF the test wasn’t broken (or a lie). They both agreed on the rules of the test and what they would do. However, one always says the truth and the other always lies. That’s why the “fair”(?) test is an external party or a sign or such states the rules. This version of the test also exists, but it’s called things like the liar’s riddle, because both party must be able to lie for them to state the test (either always lie or sometimes only). Thus, the answer to the riddle is to assume everything they say *can* be a lie, but you can’t know for sure.
(Btw, an alternative question for the proper riddle is “If I asked the other guardian, what answer would he give me to ‘x’, guaranteeing the lie.)

yea the question is where your home is the angel and devil will say the same thing. His question dosent make since the angel and devel would both say the gate behind them leads to heaven u wouldnt know which one was telling the truth. He should of asked which gate leads to where u are from.

The question is suppose to be “if I were to ask a person beside you to point the gate of heaven what gate will she point to”. If its devel it will choose hell gate as she only lies but it its angle it will also point to the hell gate as she knows that devel will point to that gate too. This works in every situation.
