There are at leas two comments below suggesting to sacrifice himself. It might actually a good point, if not himself, then something that he has with him, of some quality. “I sacrifice my stupidity”, for example 
Just think of it, why should he look something in their own home and do the offering from the place you came. It is like visiting a friend on his birthday and giving him his own painting as a gift. “Here, I present you this picture on the wall as a gift” – “but it is already mine” – “do not say shit, I could have destroyed, but instead I am giving you a chance to enjoy it longer, is it not enough of a gift for you? Should you not be satisfied with anything I present you? You know, it is a bad manner to criticize one’s gift!”
Just adding to this ridicules present passage, but what if let’s say death would come by to birthday party, not taking life is already a present enough, would you agree?
