“Darkness” breaks down to 2 opposite paths, pursuit of absolute strength by fighting whatever the world throws at you, where you consume and devour every experience and every other thing, to become an absolute existence that stands equal to everything else. Because you walk the path of absolute strength, you gain serenity and calmness, after all sheer madness is not enough to become absolute, you need balance and enlightenment. Its the enlightenment and serenity that helps ground and balance death and corruption, with life and nature.
Then there’s the path of false strength, where you get lost in desire and power, and forget the goal of striving to be absolute. And become lost in madness and denial.
You can even break things down more.
Chaos: haphazard creation ,which also infers haphazard destruction.
Light: haphazard life ,which infers the chaos of nature.
Darkness: haphazard strength, which infers imbalance through desire, competition, war, struggle, strife.
