My suspicions have been confirmed, this story is heavily inspired by Lovecraft’s works. Slightly unrelated, it’s also likely inspired by the game Bloodborne. The main characters in that are called Hunters who use the Old Blood to gain their strength.

So it’s basically revealed.. inky has to be either Yog-sothoth or Azathoth himself.. probably the latter.. the dreamer.. and since everyone derives their power from the Dreamworld, azathoth rules supreme as he’s the one to dream reality.. once he wakes up reality just vanishes… And since inkies power is beyond everything it has to be the embodiment of azathoth…
