Even if he graduates what is his life from there out? Won’t be able to be a court mage, fight for the military, offer services as a freelance mage.
His spirit stuff is impressive but as of right now he’s completely useless.

This is the MC I remember. Cut through the bull crap, do what you have to do. In this case, start hitting the books on teleportation. They gave a small hint as for the reason the MC is allowing outside stuff to affect him more (the anti-magic damaging his mind), but hopefully that is/was minor and over now.

To be completely honest, I think this slow development is good and pretty accurate. I mean, you can’t just learn magic. (Except if your plot armor itself)
