mc is trying to win against him with intelligence and such but hes smarter than mc in those aspects so mc just needs to stop playing this guys game and use his specialty which makes him the mc; his spirit zone. Like mf you can easily have multiple beams or just make an aoe explosion of photons that hit everything in a halfsphere (not in the ground) with a given radius and speed
If he wants to beat that guy, our MC will have to go into a trance-like state as he did in the teleportation test on the bridge you cannot cross. Not sure if he can do that without a life-or-death contest though.
