Second. It’s he only one that multiplies the benefit. The first and third pales if he’s a)not fighting someone with sword spirits and b)strong enough to defeat them without.

I feel like slaying could also be quite useful, considering in the future most higher level opponents would most likely have them, and knowing MCs it’s gonna get stronger by absorbing the killed ones, the strengthening others seems bad as MC often soloes and the control pretty bad aswell as so far we have barely seen any other sword souls so we can assume they aren’t that common, I assume there is a perk with slaying them, as otherwise you’d be able to defeat the holder anyways so there must be more behind it

This should be an obvious choice: control or slay are only useful, as far as I can see, against other sword cultivators. Against monsters, or people who use other weapons, it seems meaningless. But bestowing power allows him to improve his player zombie horde by a lot…

A sword with a sword spirit can’t be broken (c448) aka be killed, but killing or controlling sword spirits is not useful against most Demon Beasts, since they rely primarily on their physical bodies. Bestowal can strengthen his army, and it can also initiate quest for Players with this reward.
