He says that it’s “random every time” – thus, that means he has been respawning for a while. His knowledge of other starting items supports this. Now, my question is: does this happen for everyone? What is the true [Win Condition]? Is it to win in the least amount of revives, or the least amount of total alive time, or what?

Her mark skill seems pretty useful here, she can mark the lion (if she can) if she encounters it and lives then help both of themselves escape the maze without encountering it again.
