If I were to take a guess about what’s going to happen, I’d say that MC will deliver the final blow, shocking everyone. He’ll be exhausted and hurt, leading him to pass out and wake up in the recovery room or whatever and get first place in the exam. Instead of being glad, he becomes annoyed or frustrated that he couldn’t do more or whatever (that he was weak or something).
Of course, they could always just make him effortlessly kill this thing with power or his previous knowledge. That works too.
