The really annoying part is the useless insistence on the shyness about sex. The author could have implied they had sex before, but wasn’t working. But no, what this chapter shows is that they have no sexual drive, and the deed is just for having babies. Morally ambivalent, but ok, I can get behind that, but you have to ignore how twisted are Japanese people about sex.
