Genuenly, people hate him too much. He is basically just the most convenient experiment dummy and nothing that happend to him (that I remember) was too ridiculous to not be believable.
Gambling addiction is a serious problem that was shown through him how it can ruin anyone’s life, same thing here – he didn’t have any friends and didn’t feel himself included, and now that he found people that pay attention to him he feels happy.
I don’t know what lesson will be learned here, maybe something about being corrupted by the shrroubdings, but I’m pretty sure I was the same at some point, just walking with people and not feeling included, until I just stopped caring about it.
