Machigai Shoukan! Oidasareta kedo Joui Gokan Skill de Rakuraku Seikatsu - Chapter 12

I have a problem with this whole plot arc. This whole thing is happening because the Count wanted to steal some random innkeeper’s wife and make her his own. There are a number of reasons why this is a bad plot.

First, given the propensity for fantasy manga to base their religion on Christianity, there’s the issue of stealing the innkeeper’s wife. Matrimony is one of the seven sacraments, and considered very sacred. Especially in the time period typical fantasy settings imitate, you don’t mess with the sacraments. There isn’t a priest alive this Count could bribe to override the innkeeper’s marriage with his own.

Second, a noble would not do this for the same reason jus prima noctis was not a real thing. A lord abusing his power to steal another man’s wife is going to cause unrest. If it comes right down to it, the innkeeper could go over his head and petition the king directly to have this matter dealt with. The king will side with the innkeeper 99 times out of 100 because doing this is such a bad idea.

Finally, a noble would not do this because it’s a status issue. There’s no chance a Count, somebody firmly in the middle of the aristocratic hierarchy, is marrying some random peasant girl. He would get shit on so hard by the other nobles for doing such a thing, to say nothing of his family, whom he would be dishonoring with such a coupling. This, especially, because he’s abusing his power to steal her from her rightful husband.
