Yang Kai is so stupid… Ignoring his wrong deeds and hesitating when given an easy task to solve his own problems, is he retarded ?!
Actually, it’s always been true that Yang Kai had tremendous sway over what happens in the sealed world, it’s even accurate that he said at one point in the past that he can adjust the flow of time inside. (To what extent though, is something I cannot speak to.)
As for Su Yan, the Pheonix may have a different enough temperament as a whole that things could turn out differently. Here’s hoping at least.

So I guess logically speaking the ancestral dragon is the foundation of all dragons so it being able to share it’s power through the cultivation of dragon blood flowers without its own power growing weaker would make a lot of sense
