Her justification for killing the other numbers aren’t valid and I feel like 002 already knew that 001 was eventually gonna go back to his family which is why he didn’t care or mind.
it could be said that ijin the kinda that dont want to take part anymore and return home. since the beginning he was the confused kid who was forced to join.
002 the kind of loyal soldier who stick to his code of honor, so since he recognize 001 as his captain, he is loyal to him. even if later ijin ran away and return, 002 never actually blame him for it despite probably ‘a little’ angry. the initial conflict with ijin was because he thought ijin betray them and kill their comrades.
003 is probably an opportunist or careerist. it was probably true that she thought 002 should be their captain but at the same time it could also be true that she cherish the numbers itself, not the members but the team.
as for others, they simply view 001 as captain who would got their back when they needed most. it is the kind of backbone that they can rely on. and 002 is the mommy who lead, manage, and take care of them.
i mean no one said team leader should be someone who lead.
in many force oriented team, team leader is usually the strongest and most reliable and not the one in command.
