She should let them punish the perpetrators.

She should ask if she can be an observer during the trial. It is a test, one that they need to recognize themselves.

If they are able to punish attackers without blaiming her or her village, ideally by cutting ties with them, they both show what they are willing to do to anyone else among them, but also that they are not cruel (kill them) or clingy (keep them).

• If they can do that and not blame her for doing it (just observer), they have potencial.
• If they do it but blame her, they are not ready yet, but few attacks later … maybe. As an option, they should offer anyone from their group to follow attackers if they want to, to lower the chance of bad feelings, so not so much a punishment as a split, good apples stay, bad ones go away.
• If they do it but in a cruel way, they should be reeducated or just aborted.
• If they do it but in a clingy way, there is no hope, let them stay untill they cause “next incident”, then abort them first chance.

Or from her point of view, just ask to be present for trial, no need to overthink it, then restrain yourself from commenting, don’t press on them, this is something internal they
have to deal with to show their hearts 🙂

Bonus points if they make a show of being sorry for the victim and try to do everything to help him or try to come up with any kind of a gift they can manage as a show of guilt. That more potent, if it will be clear they will suffer because of it.

This would show everyone how sincere they are and that they are willing to put needs of village above their own fortunes if push comes to shove.
