I do not believe our MC is of humble origin for one second. He has to be the son of a high ranking noble, maybe a Prince form a destroyed Kingdom that has been integrated into this Empire. There is no way some bumpkin peasant would be assigned t the detail of the Princess at such a young age. Not to mention he is apparently a beast on the Battlefield. Only the confidence of a Prince would see him punching so far above his weight class in trying to smash with this knight commander boss.
