I bet Shuri spared Brook and that Brook was allowed to live, perhaps as a means to get her to leave peacefully without opposition. Brook’s canonical first death may have been staged by the God Knights to remove a loose end, either doing the deed themselves or enlisting assassins to do it. With Brook “dead”, Shuri would have no reason to not dedicate herself fully to Imu and the God Knights.
Shuri’s eyes are completely white rather than mismatched here, a bit odd as when she was possessed by Imu her eyes remained mismatched.
Might it be linked to the “mortal blow” she lands on Brook and is why he survives such a wound (the blade missed all vital points in the brain which is insane). But at least we know the “wound on his skull” that he opens was partially caused by Shuri.
(Unless he had eaten his devil fruit and just didn’t know what it was as we don’t have a definitive time when he ate it?)
Seems Imu is interested in acquiring these “natural-born powers”, enough that he’s artificially creating them in God’s Knights like ManMayer. At least that’s how I’m reading it.

Also love that Imu says “history repeats itself” as a taunt to Loki and then gets smacked by “Nika”, as if that too is history repeating itself.
