Weird for the author to not know gold is soft and have it be the driver of the plot. That should be super common knowledge. Why was hardness brought up at all if the author was unsure? Does not inspire confidence in the story.

You can literaly bite into a gold coin.
your dentures will leave a dent in them. Thats where it originated to bite your medal to see if it is real gold.( olympia only gave out 1 set of real coins and after that its just plaqued so all the sportspersons are in reality mocking Olympia for giving them fake gold)

I’m reading this once again as I totally forgot the plot.
It’s kind of similar to “the knight who returned with a god”, but it’s not that bad.
By the way, gold is a soft metal… If its so hard, how can the guy deduce it’s 100%gold?
