The whole issue with this arc is that the MC has shown himself to be way smarter than this, being entrapped constantly when its so easily avoidable has been so annoying to watch.
Hell, he only started “looking into this problem” last chapter by investigating the attendent. This has been a problem for a couple of years now (Mclain’s actual time) and he’s been mishandling it the whole while.
Even this poison assassination is juvenile, with the people in Mclain easily realising that there are far better ways to assassinate the King if they really wanted to.
This arc is really frustrating, and I hope it doesn’t keep dragging on. Maybe this is to show that when something huge occurs that the MC doesn’t know from his regression he’s powerless/naïve in handling it?
