I’m not sure I know his family was surprised but to me its like they was expecting him to bring a guy back instead
The surprise tells you what they were expecting him to bring home…
I’m guessing that the only message he sent ahead was that he was coming back with a promising knight-trainee, so when he arrived they were shocked by her gender.
I love her fathers reaction. A few chapters back he was worried she wouldn’t find a husband because she kept beating up here suitors, now she has found someone she likes, he wants to make sure his little girl is looked after.
Hopefully the story will be one where that happens.
