Mc still thinks that the king will die?

idk why but i feel like the king is not going to die at midnight because of how much the author is mentioning it because usually things that actually happen are more of a surprise and the mc is expected to deal with it somehow.
while on the other hand, for a plot twist to happen first a false expectation must be set and believed by both mc and readers only for it to not happen and instead now the mc has to deal with something new that is unexpected. 
but here is the wired part, the mc has put a lot of trust on the death of king which almost feels like gambling as he has no plan b in case things go south not to mention even im having a hard time to think what can the mc do if his majesty is still alive 
i hope the comment section can shed some light to my theory and we can be fellow theorists. 
Anyway still very fun to read and can’t wait for the next chapter
