There are a few translation issues with this chapter. As Mark Twain once said, “Use the correct word and not its second cousin” For instance, those adventurers being brought would be “trustworthy”, not “trusting”. Additionally, the Marquis is likely supposed to be one of this “authorities”, not “authoritarians”.
Also, why are the soldiers eating rations? In a castle, they should have a cook providing their food, assuming they don’t just return to their homes once they go off duty!
