My 2 cents here: 1) the ruins are so obviously going to be the hideout of that cringy criminal organization
2) This wolrd is multiple decades, if not hundreds, or thousands of years in the past or future, I’d say the latter since the cathedral good jobs is in ruin

ok so the way he explains it makes more sense, its not that he’s dense or underestimating himself, its that he knows his weaknesses as well as everyone else’s. Having the knowledge alone isn’t what makes him “the strongest” its just an advantage, theoretically he can still loose to people and creatures that are much higher levels than he is even with his knowledge. So that receptionist actually was doing some harm by giving him more advanced quests.
