Souyoku no Busou Tsukai

The first chapter set a pretty bad tone, to be honest. The narration makes this big deal about how humanity was pushed to the brink by these magic storms before they gained a new special power. Then, the very first chapter has these two main characters be the only ones who can handle a rampaging monster that attacks their town.

Like, writer, I know, you want to showcase how super-special awesome your main characters are, but isn’t that what their training scene was supposed to do? Maybe we could get a scene showing that there are other competent people besides them? Have them help save the day or something, show that the town isn’t f***ed when they inevitably leave. Like this, it becomes clear that they will be the only useful people in any given situation going forward.

Also, what a stupidly pointless conflict, to get their special weapons.
“Mom, there’s a golem rampaging incredibly slowly through town, and the completely absent guards can’t harm it at all! Please let us have our special weapons so we can save both the town, and its target, you!”
“No.”
“Mother, I shall manipulate you in the most nakedly blatant way to get you to let us have our weapons, so that we can save both you and the town.”
“Oh, fine.”

Also, Grimoire of the End is totally the name of a villain’s weapon.
