Crazy that nearly every chapter so far someone feels the need to compare a fictional world with magic to the real world’s history. Its not that deep, no need to keep malding about irrelevant details like some weird nerd every chapter.

Academy? That doesn’t fit with the world.
From the looks of the technology level it looks pre 1800. Only a handful of people would be learning to read/write, as such children of 9 are considered adults, and sometimes married off. Children as soon as they are old enough would be given chores and work just to survive. Even making thread is an arduous chore (nevermind making a sheet or cloth). There’s no time for most people.
Though i suppose during the 3-4 months of being locked up they could be learning to read/write but that seems unlikely.
