Poor girl. While harems are funny and make for easy romantic comedy, reality of unrequited love hurts. Maybe there is polygamy in this world, though apparently witches can’t reproduce for some reason with their powers.

Idk for me its too contrived for Anna. She has her little sob story its sad but its nothing as tragic as Nightingale.
later on
Then Anna gets everything she wants. Gets Rolands heart and you can guess who he marries right? Anna obviously
Meanwhile Nightingale is still madly in love with him but stays back and respects them both. Unfortunately the author gives all this too much screentime too so we’re invested in Nightingale’s troubles.
So Anna gets it all but we still gotta hear about how life is so hard for her meanwhile Nightingale’s childhood blows Anna’s away and she still has to deal with watching the man she loves get taken from her……(not saying the bigger victim should win his bed spot but its a fvcking comic come on. We like happy shvt. Let Nightingale be happy! Wtf!)
Later on Anna basically puts the boundary down on Nightingale and makes it clear that he’s her man……Why have such a tragic character like Nightingale in the first place its a mostly light hearted story….. it’s just stupid!
And finally Anna does help Nightingale out convincing Roland that he needs her as well. Which he does. So she gives her a chance but thats like 1000 chapters of her hogging Roland for herself.
Apparently the Author’s wife was against the three way romance but the author shot his own foot since he gave Nightingale’s depression and sadness too much screentime.
So in the end, fans of the series freaked out saying its unfair and stupid and ridiculous (true) since Nightingale is literally Roland’s right arm and Roland subconsciously always needed her as much as Anna to begin with
But the authors wife was having none of it. Until the critisisms from fans became too much.
So in the end, Nightingale gets her happy ending with Roland (and Anna) but its cheap and contrived because of how thrown in and last minute it all is, considering we had 1000+ chapters of Anna hogging Roland as his one and only Wife/Queen.
Yes its fictional but there’s just something about it that really bothers me. And it definitely has to do with Anna getting everything all the time, becoming Queen, telling Nightingale NO ROLAND FOR YOU and then allowing Roland to have Nightingale too…. right at the last moment.
IMO Anna is basically the Authors wife. And the author’s wife revenge towards her husbands made up, fictional second love interest (nightingale).
Its just petty and stupid. Its a lighthearted build city isekai with hot witches. Does it need to have this extremely painful third wheel love interest who’s just so awesome but always gets nothing???
I remember one excuse made is that Roland says to himself that he needs BOTH OF THEM…. but then randomly tells himself that “polyagemy is bad” and then contradicts himself again by saying the isekai world ISN’T his 21st century world (yet he goes to impose those very same monogamous ideals into this isekai world….after telling himself he needs Nightingale too and that he shouldn’t care about his own worlds pov)
It just doesnt make sense.
Its like this is SAO and Roland is Kirito and Anna is Asuna. Nightingale is Asuna’s friend the blacksmith. Remember? How she has to give up what she thought could have been her lover? But just imagine that girl having just as much screentime as Asuna and every so often they show how miserable she is (like they did breifly with the blacksmith) but show that every dozen chapters or so…
Wouldn’t that be just….cruel and petty?
Wow, i guess it still bothers me. Its hard to read.
