so many people are complaining about this, but i don’t think it’s that crazy that one of the greatest magical prodigies alive who taught themselves how to control spirits from nothing (supposedly impossible according to the guy in charge of the family’s dark magic faction) could pull some magical shenanigans with a demon’s contract. it’s not some power of friendship shit, he literally outright says that she can only even attempt whatever’s about to happen because she’s crazy good at magic
and he’s not in love with her or using the power of love. regaining your human emotions doesn’t have to be about romance. he feels guilty about accidentally fucking up her fate and wants to redeem himself. yeah she’s crazy for what she did, but she never would have even thought of any of it if he hadn’t pretended to be dead for years which is also a fucked up thing to do to someone. we already know that in a timeline without him messing around she becomes a noble hero despite being kidnapped herself. she just couldn’t deal with someone else dying in her place and snapped, which is pretty fair for a teenager.
So when he came out of hiding with lil sis he couldn’t bother checking on miss Campus? The only one she’s important for is the plot, Vikki is sloppy
People really don’t understand this huh? It’s not that he likes Camus, but that he respects her as one of the future heroes and also feels guilty for causing her to become like this. He owes her that much.

Cringe, he cared so little about her that he never made any attempts at telling her that he is alive, but now suddenly he needs to save her?
This would have been such a great opportunity to have him grow as a person, being forced to kill someone that had a bright future because he was being selfish and self-absorbed, this could have been a event of reflection and trauma that leads to personal growth, but instead it turned out to be the standard shonen anime trope of “we will do something impossible with the power of friendship”
