Okay, they’ve triggered (no pun intended) my ’tism:
- The presence of firearms alongside knights and swords isn’t immersion-breaking for me (historically, it’s accurate), but… Cartridge-firing weapons? Nah. Black powder and matchlock, and maybe flintlock would make more sense. I guess you could excuse it ’cause magic, but then why aren’t any of the other weapons more advanced? Compound bows, for instance?
- That bolt handle is an afterthought. Seriously, it looks like the artist forgot to put one in and then just penciled it in during inking. Especially for a cock-on-open design like the Remington 700… that teeny-tiny handle might work on a single-shot .22, but nothing significant beyond that; it’d bend or just snap off.
- Why the heck does a bolt action have a gas block? It’s like the artist took a M-14, added a K98’s barrel band, and then added a 10/22’s receiver and a Keystone Arms bolt handle.
- Why is the receiver so short? Is it a rimfire? Even the Model 7 still has a significantly longer receiver than that.
All in all… I wish Japan would research guns a bit more before trying to draw or design them; this seems to be a constant issue these days in manga, anime, and even games. The one isekai with the hunter from Hokkaido with an Elf wife does a spectacular job, so clearly it can be done; not sure if it’s just laziness, censorship, general ignorance, or a combination. Frustrating.

Hold up. Bow and heavy metal armor are a thing. The imperial army so the top soldiers do not wear full kevlar armor. They would be swiss cheese with a sniper rifle.

If they have rifles. Then what about Short Barreled Shotguns? Use the Rifle for distance and a Shotgun up close. Either would be better than a Spear or Sword.
Don’t choose a bolt action for a maze. Even that revolver on the wall would be better for CQB.
