These sort of stories never make sense.
Obviously isekai isn’t supposed to make sense.
BUT…
What I mean is that any and all civilizations learned how to make fire.
Flint and steel or iron is literally one of the most basic technologies.
It is one step on from using a stick to hit and poke things.
A lighter is just a flint and steel in a smaller form… and is also old technology.
Since this world obviously has other technology, fire-lighting should not be surprising. Lighting fires is literally one of the most ancient and essential technologies of … cavemen.
Only an ignorant and arrogant city person (or city-dwelling author) would think someone in a lower technology society would be amazed by a firelighter.
An electric torch would be a better choice to amaze.
(TBF they could have used an arc lighter … which would also be newer tech … but they didn’t.)

Never before have I felt that an mc is THIS relatable before. Like, his reason for prefering the single life is surprisingly similar to mine. I know not all marriages are like that, but both me and mc have seen what a bad spouse is like. Living alone isn’t so bad, y’know?
