The story after the giant world reset, is slowly going back to the normal storyline…. and not some dungeon and game system… (even though from the beginning it could have been but it was a story that never explicitly stated it)

If what was teased last chapter is true, then it isn’t so much that he’s wearing armor, but rather that he is the armor itself, since it was formed from his own bones. And if what I’ve seen online is to be believed, this is his official look in the LN, though I cannot verify if that is true or not due to not reading it myself.
