In my opinion, Ashton must be one of those Moderators who appeared to erased all of Skelly’s progress, but Ashten is a rebel or something.
Or perhaps he is a mage who uncovered the secrets of the world and now resides within the blue screen, within the web of magic, like Isaac did in a way when he was put in Skelly’s inventory.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if our skelly BOI is Kevin Ashton himself who maybe faked his death, lost his memories but set things in motion to regain whatever he lost
