yeah… i was kinda thinking the same.
the sword kinda acts as a warding totem to keep unnecessary creatures
(or spirits?) away. 
also, i think most of mc’s swords were given to him, not him taking it.

Noice elf arc
Everything is great, especially the story pace. It kind of reminds me the pace of The Breaker series or Reincarnation of Suicidal Battle God. Simply epic.

Love that he gave the sword back, I was wondering how I’d resolve it but its the perfect way, he doesn’t want a great sword he wants a sword that will be great through his own achievements

How beautifully the author not just shows the traditional “hero’s journey” of a young aspiring knight but also how much meaning his growth has for the old masters he learns from on the way. All these geezers who were old and cranky and cynical and merciless not just blindly teaching him but also literally feeling that their actions have some meaning some influence on the future. Beautiful
